A modern American restaurant driven by ingredients and community.

First & Last is a neighborhood restaurant. Inspired by our community surrounding downtown Phoenix, we wanted to create a space that fits every mood and occasion. Pop in for happy hour at the bar, dress up for date night, or catch up with old friends over a long dinner. Whatever the reason, we’ll always meet you here with an ingredient-driven menu that rotates and changes with the best of what’s in season, interesting wines from small producers, playful cocktails, and a curated tap list.

It’s all about the ingredients at First & Last. We love working with our local farmers and purveyors, but we also don’t shy away from bringing in the best meats, seafood, and produce that we can find throughout the country. Seasonal for us means bringing together the decadent flavors and unique offerings that the land has to offer from different regions throughout the year.

About Ashley & Robb

We fell in love with restaurants - and then we fell in love in a restaurant.

Robb grew up in the midwest fermenting sauerkraut with his great grandmother, baking bread with his grandmother, and canning the summer garden with his mother. These roots have shaped his deep appreciation for great ingredients and the importance of family and community through cooking. After culinary school, he developed as a chef in Chicago while working in the kitchens of Grant Achatz, Rick Bayless, Curtis Duffy, and more, before becoming Chef of Food Dance – one of Michigan’s original farm-to-table restaurants. He later moved to LA, where he became the Regional Executive Chef for LGO Hospitality’s California properties. It’s also where he met Ashley.

If Robb’s cooking is the heart of First & Last, Ashley’s meticulous attention to detail and love of hospitality is the soul of the restaurant. Before her two years as Manager at Maple & Ash in Scottsdale and six years as the General Manager of The Misfit in LA (where she met Robb!), Ashley developed the skills and dedication it takes to run a busy neighborhood restaurant while managing local favorite La Grande Orange Grocery and Pizzeria. She loves the fast pace of the industry and putting smiles on guests’ faces – and she’s the expert who keeps everything running smoothly.
